Castlegar Junction quickly gained importance as a town-site. In this early view, we are looking past the new train station (which replaced the original that was lost in a fire) towards the east, in the direction Third Street runs today. It would be right behind the station, and on the right can be seen the Castlegar Hotel. Farmer's Store is the prominent building on the left, and the small building on extreme left is the first school. The cut on the left leads to the train bridge.
